Agency History

The Walton Agency was established in Jackson, Michigan by Lee Walton in 1951 as an insurance agency focused on covering their neighbor’s homes and cars.  In the early days Mr. Walton was assisted by Helen Maltby in the office and Roselyn Cheney handling claims.  Over the years the agency flourished, and by the early 1970s, had grown to a dozen employees.  It was at this time that Lee’s son Ric, after graduating from Western Michigan University and working as an insurance underwriter for a national carrier, returned to his father’s business on Thompson Street and began working with Jackson County businesses. 

Walton Agency’s team of insurance professionals now number nearly 50.  Having outgrown the Thompson Street offices in 1997, we moved to our current Spring Arbor Road location and look forward to continued growth.   Our insurance services have also grown to cover all aspects of personal and commercial insurance services, including life, health and employee benefit programs.

From the beginning we have been proud to be a part of the Jackson community and recognize the importance of giving back to those we serve.  You will find our employees on local boards and charity foundations, as well as volunteering for events throughout the area.  Walton Agency’s annual Christmas open-house for children has become a “must see” community event. 

Our commitment to Jackson is strong and we look forward to many more years serving the next generation of our friends and neighbors.
